Inflation Reduction Act

Tax Credits

Great news! The 2022 Inflation Reduction Act has extended the Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) to 2032! It also includes retroactive rebates for homeowners who have had energy-efficient improvements made to their homes on or after August 16, 2022. The credit amount equates to 30% of qualified expenses – some tax credit amounts can include labor costs while others do not.

As a taxpayer, you can take advantage of this Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit every year you make energy-efficient improvements to your home! You may claim up to $3,200 a year in tax credits for combined upgrades as long as costs do not exceed the specified maximum annual credit amount.

Claim the tax credits by submitting the 5696 form along with any necessary documentation like product receipts.

Note: These numbers should be used as an estimate and are not guaranteed rebates. Always consult the IRS website and/or your tax professional to understand what you may qualify for.

HOMES Rebates

There are also HOMES Rebates from the state as part of the Inflation Reduction Act. To be eligible for these rebates, you’ll need to get an energy assessment.

  • $2,000 off improvements that reduce energy use by 20% or more, a max of 50% of total costs ($4,000 if moderate income, to a max of 80% of the cost)
  • $4,000 off improvements that reduce energy use by 35% or more, a max of 50% of total costs ($8,000 if moderate income, to a max of 80% of the cost)

Focus on Energy Incentives

The Focus on Energy Program offers rebate incentives to help homeowners with the cost of their energy-related home improvements. As an approved Trade Ally contractor, S & E Insulation, a division of Allrite Home & Remodeling, can help you save up on eligible air sealing and insulation projects.
